With spring on our doorstep, and summer following close behind, you’re probably already planning what to do with your family while making the most of the sunny weather. In addition to the family holiday planned for the coming weeks, why not try a few extra special activities you can enjoy together and do something different?
This spring and summer, we suggest using our holiday bucket list to have some alternative family fun – and if you get through these, why not add some more ideas of your own? Print out the list below, so you can take it with you on days out as a reminder!
Try clay pigeon shooting – something everyone can do before shooting season returns - and go on birdwatching walks. Set yourself a challenge while bird watching to try and spot more unusual birds, or even seek out birds of prey like hawks, buzzards or even the beautiful red kite.
As well as your usual country walks, why not challenge yourself and head to the Lake District, Peak District, Snowdonia or the Scottish Highlands for a long weekend break and tackle one of the highest peaks in the UK? If you are with the whole family, be sure you choose a peak which is accessible for everyone.
We also suggest strawberry picking, along with some other foraging fun, and getting into the garden to make an animal home for some local wildlife. Try building a hedgehog house, using wood for some creepy-crawlies, or even making a birdhouse. You can also get your kids involved with the gardening by helping them make their own miniature herb garden in a plant pot or window box.
Be sure to involve the dog with some of your bucket list ideas too, such as going on a camping trip. Make your camping destination a place where you can try some water sports or even go wild swimming in a secluded river or lake.
And best of all, document all your spring and summer activities by taking photos, and even get some disposable cameras or child-friendly digital cameras for your kids to use, and create a scrapbook at the end of the summer, so you have all the memories together.
We have the ideal country clothing for men, ladies and kids, when you head out on all your countryside pursuits, and accessories to help your days out be as pleasant as possible, from hats and scarves to binoculars and boot dryers.
